As of yesterday, Files by Google is not functioning properly on my android. I tap on any category and nothing comes up. From the options menu, where it displays "Clean", it still shows my storage capacity, but it never opens to show all the sub-categories, just a continuous circling. I think it might have something to do with the latest Google Photos update, as these 2 apps are connected and work in tandem. It's so frustrating that I can't even see any screenshots, videos, pics, etc on my phone!

This app is fine, but there are some minor issues including high quality videos and photos, and sometimes certain file types, just appearing black and sometimes folders can be hard to find. Also sometimes audio will not play and shuffle until it finds a file that will play. I thought those problems were just from the phone I had before, but I got a new and updated phone and it still has those problems.

App can no longer see any files. It can see them enough to show a thumbnail of them in the preview up top, but if you hit a tab, say downloads, it's empty. All tabs/folders are empty, I can't access a single file now and had to start using a different app from the store called File Manager. File Manager App shows all my files and I'm able to access them all.

What's new

When you scan a document, it’s saved in your device’s Scanned folder.
“Documents & other” category is now called “Documents” to make it easier to find PDF files. Other files, like backup and database files, can be found in “Downloads” or “Internal storage”.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll roll out search improvements like recently opened files, quick results, and dropdown filters to make finding files even easier.
